2009...A Look Ahead.

Well, get ready to pop the cork, kiss your loved one, and take down your 2008 calendar's 'cause it's almost New Year's Eve! Many are gearing up for another year and another set of resolutions...that oddly keep repeating themselves! Every year someone on the radio or on any news channel declares the closing year "...A Year To Remember!", but how about the year to come? 2008 brought us many things including the longest Presidential Campaign in history, it brought us one of the highest gas hikes in history, and it also brought us into the recession that we're in right now. So now what? How is this a "Year To Remember"? Wouldn't this be a year to forget?

Let's make 2009 a Year To Remember right now! Why wait until December 31st of next year? Let's get those New Year's Resolutions cracking and let's think positive for the upcoming year. Percy's is gearing up for a great year with a New Year's Day Sale to remember this Thursday from 12pm to 5pm. Come to Percy's for great deals including these and be sure to check back tomorrow for all the details of Thursday's ad. You won't want to miss this!

This Is It...2 More Days To Go!

As I've said in the past, holidays are a wonderful thing when you take the time to relax and enjoy it as it comes and goes. We all get too wrapped up in everything else going on that we forget to stop and enjoy it. Shopping has been going on for months now and is almost catching up to how long the Presidential Debate lasted :)
We at Percy's are sending off the BEST sales of the year for the last 2 days of the shopping season. You can see the HOT deals here. Get them before they are all gone! DVD Players for $39, 1080p HDTV's as low as $999 and GPS Navigation Systems starting at $99 after mail-in rebate.

My Quick Thought:

Most of you are already off work, out of school, on break, or on vacation so you're enjoying at least the time off. But ever notice it's when the holiday is over, that you wonder where it went?

If Bing Crosby were alive today he would be a gazillionaire! His recording of "I'm Dreaming Of A White Christmas" has sold over 100 million copies according to the Guiness Book of Records 50 million of those being sold as just singles. I wonder how many people went onto iTunes recently and downloaded it. I know for us here in the Northeast we will thoroughly enjoy a White Christmas this year with an average of 18" of snow that just fell in 2.5 days. It started Friday and for some, didn't quit until last night. But not only that, I've also heard from friends with family in Seattle, WA. that snow is falling at an alarming rate with numbers unseen since at least 1972. And how about Las Vegas? Las Vegas got 3 inches of snow and hasn't seen the white stuff since 1974. Are we all destined for a White Christmas?

Share the holidays with those you love and take the time out of your busy schedule to remember the holiday now...instead of when it's over.

Happy Holidays to you and yours this year.

See you in 2009 and as always,

Take Care,

-Brian

Please buy Local

At this time of the year , we all get bombarded with ads from lots of family owned local stores and national chains ( big box) trying to sell their products to you for the holidays.

Being a locally owned, family owned retail store I am biased towards buying and supporting family owned businesses.

When shopping this holiday season and throughout the year, Please try and shop at your local family owned and operated business.

I assure you the price will be right, (most stores match prices) the service will be better than the big box stores, (the owners live in the area and do not want bad press ), and you will feel good about supporting the local community as more dollars stay locally when you buy local.

Happy Holidays

Power Surges

This week Percy's has been getting lots of calls from our friends who have bought items here and due to the Ice storm and snow storms, have lost the use of these items due to power surges.
What should you do if you have a Tv, audio system, or appliance that was power surged and how can we all prevent these issue from coming up?

1. If your appliances, audio or video has been power surged and you have lost the use of them, please come down to the store so we can get you an invoice on what the replacement value of those items would be. You may then give that to your insurance adjuster. Many home owners policies have this protection.

2. Always buy a good....er, great surge protector on every electronic you buy. To spend hard earned money on a beautiful TV and home entertainment system and not buy, or purchase a inexpensive surge protector is not very wise. Please come in and see one of our trained team members and we will gladly show you the difference between a good inexpensive surge protector and a great inexpensive one that actually does what it is supposed to do.

2. If your power is out, UN-plug your electronics and appliances asap. When power does come on, there will be a powerful signal sent to your house, that can affect equipment that is cold. Be careful.

3. Appliance service; Percy's services what we sell. If you bought your appliances here and need service due to the Ice and snow storm, please call us. We are here to help you.

100th Post Spectacular!

Wow,

It's our 100th post and also only 8 more days til Christmas! I'm hoping that all are well and are getting excited for the upcoming holiday. Still doing any shopping? My plans are to wrap up my gift shopping by Friday so that next week won't be too busy.

Here in the Northeast we've been crippled with an ice storm that has people still without power and could be that way until after the holiday. It's put a damper on alot of holiday cheer and has left hundreds of thousands without power. So far, no casualties have been reported, but the initial report stated that over 1 million people were without power the day after the storm hit. My hope is that everyone gets cleared up by the holiday.

So while all that was going on, percys.com was a-buzz with tons of responses to the last post about the Blu-ray players. We sold so many in 2 days that we had to get an emergency order rush shipped to us so we can get them out for the holidays. If Blu-ray is on your mind for the holidays, then you've only got at least 1 more day to get your order in to have it shipped on time. We can not guarantee anything when it comes to UPS and it's delivery. But if Blu-ray is still vague to you, then let me help you choose.

I can remember it like it was yesterday....although it was actually about 12 years ago. I bought my very first DVD player. It was made by Sanyo and was priced at about $150. The first movie I bought as Ronin with Robert De'Niro. I remember buying this, bringing it home, and sitting in awe at this new (at least new to me) technology. I remember fast-forwarding and amazed that there weren't any tracking lines, amazed at the menu options, and even amazed at how clear it was. It was great!

Last year I bought a Playstation 3 complete with a Blu-ray built into it. I plugged it into my 57" DLP 1080p TV and was awe-struck again...11 years later...at the picture I was looking at. The clearest of clear pictures was screaming at me from my TV and I instantly fell in love with Blu-ray. As each new release comes out, they come out with a Blu-ray. So you know all those are covered. But what about the "oldies"? Don't worry, all the movies you love are slowly but surely coming out on Blu-ray too.

This holiday season, all Blu-ray players have drastically been reduced to as low as $199 making it easier for you to complete your own "home theater". This is the year for Blu-ray. If you need a little more reassurance, please come to Percy's and let one of our Electronics Specialists show you the difference between Blu-ray and standard definition DVD's. It will blow you away for sure!

Shop our selection of Blu-ray players here.

Remember, time is running out! Christmas is just around the corner. Hurry!
