It's been 2 years since the Mass State Government signed off on a "Tax Free Weekend" and fortunately for us, this year they have signed away on it. That's right, this weekend only, you can come in and buy whatever you want and the tax is on the state on a purchase of $2,500 and under. Sorry, no Ferrari's for Christmas this year.
Most business have 10% off, 20% off, even 50% off sales on items all the time...why is this weekend so huge? A lot of people like to think it's a nice gesture given to them by the state and who are they to pass it up. I'd agree. If someone gives you a free pass to do something and they aren't going to charge you for it, I'd do it! Especially when you can purchase, say, that $1,400 laundry pair you've been looking at for a while. You never think "ok it's $1,400 for the pair BUT THEN I have to pay an extra $87.50 in sales tax." Your purchase that you figured in your head as being $1,400 now jumped up to $1,487.50. Not what you had in mind.
To be able to walk in the store and say "I'll take that laundry pair for $1,400 and not a penny more"...is a good day in my book.
