Percy's Big Weekend Events

Well it's been extremely hot in the Northeast for the past week and Air Conditioners are scarce in just about every store in Central Massachusetts.

Except Percy's!

We have a sign inside the front door by the Air Conditioners and it clearly states what we have and what's coming in on Monday. It's supposed to be close to 90's and HUMID all week next week again so now's the time to grab an A/C and keep cool.

NOBODY else has air conditioners that are between 5,000 BTU and 10,000 BTU that are priced right and in-stock. Call and buy over the phone, or come in the store and shop now to see our selection and grab one now because they are flying out the door. By the time you read this we might be out of stock so please call and talk to a salesperson and find out what we still have in-stock.

We also have our HUGE Annual Tent Sale going on this weekend. Savings of up to 70% off Appliances can be found under out "Big Top" out in the parking lot in front of Percy's. Our friendly staff is there and are helping customers in the heat but are selling appliances at wicked low, low prices. If you're looking for a refrigerator, freezer, washer, dishwasher, sink, dryer, etc....come check us out and see our selection. Bring your truck and take it with you today. Some items also have mail-in rebates and as always, if your town gives you an Energy Star rebate, then Percy's has it and will get it ready for you to save even more.

There's a lot of things happening at Percy's this weekend and we want you to be a part of it. Call, go online at www.percys.com, or come in the store and see what's in it for you!

Take Care,

-Brian

NEW Tide Front Load AND Top Load Washer Cleaner

Anybody out there have a front load washer and can't stand that moldy smell? No matter what you do, it STILL has a funky odor that comes from it after every wash and you wonder if your clothes are even getting clean or not! Well we've sold thousands and thousands of Affresh and it's become a staple for customers that own a front load washer. But does it work and what should those customers who have top load washers do?

Affresh does work to a degree. It does it's job but I found it lacked longtime effects. Not even a week later I found that the washer started smelling again. So what can I use to repair the moldy issue, while at the same time keeping the washer clean from now on? Enter Tide Washer Cleaner. It's a powder base and not a "puck" that you put in the washer dispenser and not in the drum. It works for both front load and top load washers and is the only one on the market of it's kind. So...does it work?

I tried a box of it (3 packets per box much like Affresh) and I'm amazed. My front load washer had been getting a little smelly and even though my wife and I would use Affresh and would also use Lysol wipes from time to time, it still became a little moldy. Tide's directions is for pre-existing "odor problem's", use one packet a week for 3 weeks in a row and you will notice a big difference. So I tried this. And it's like night and day.

The last packet I put in the washer was about 3 weeks ago and the washer still smells fresh and clean. What the directions also say, is that when the wash cycle ends, open the door and the detergent door and the smell will freshen your room. Now some say that the fragrance is too strong, but I find it to be refreshing and not that strong. It has totally changed the inside smell of my washer and I've found that my clothes smell much cleaner when they come out. Now we still leave the washer door open after a wash cycle so that it will dry out, but so far no more mold!

You can try it for yourself too. I encourage you to try one box of it. If you don't want to do the three week challenge, then use it much like Affresh and put it in the washer once a month. You will definitely notice a huge difference in the smell of your washer and even the smell of your clothes. We sell it as a single box (3 packets), a three pack (9 packets) and a six pack (18 packets).

Try it today and let me know how it works for you!

It's That Time Of Year Again!

I know we have a lot of readers of our blog but not quite sure where all of you are from. Some may be from the Massachusetts area, some may be from out of state. Either way, if any of you have noticed, this year is ramping up to be a WARM summer. It's not even June here and the other day I got in my car around 2pm and the outdoor temperature gauge said 100º. 100! That's mega hot for the New England area for this time of year. It's all shaping up to be like this throughout the summer and into the fall.

So why does all this matter? Because we WANT it to hit 92º on July 4th, 2010. Why? Because if you come down shopping at Percy's this Memorial Day weekend, whatever you buy will be free (minus taxes) if it hits 92º on July 4th, 2010!

Last year came close but this year seems to be even warmer than any year that I've been here. My fingers are crossed on this one! I tried to look into a possible weather forecast for that day but came up empty.

We have great savings throughout the store for you this holiday weekend and what better than to have the possibility that it would be free??? We also have A/C's in stock starting at $99 ready to help cool you off during this warm summer!

For complete details and for our advertised great deals, click here.

Take care this holiday weekend,

Now That The Dust Has Settled...

The cash for clunkers program last year brought a lot of revenue to the auto industry. Customers got HUGE incentives for trading in their clunker car, truck, van or SUV when they bought a brand new car. They got even more savings when they bought a hybrid. The program was a success and thousands of customers got new cars and we helped save the ozone layer.

Fast forward a year or so...

The next stimulus that hit was the cash for clunkers appliance program. This program was designed to help customers who were using non energy star appliances, trade those "clunkers" in and get a new more energy efficient model at a discounted rate. Each state pretty much got a dollar per person to spend at their own discretion. The state of Massachusetts has about 6.2 million people living here so we got...$6.2 million to spend in rebates as we saw fit.

I think there was only one state that was offering bigger rebates than we were. Mind you, we as the people of Massachusetts, had rebate dollar breakdowns that looked like this:

Refrigerator: $200
Washer: $175
Dishwasher: $250
Freezer: $75

Kansas on the other hand, decided to distribute their rebates like this:

Refrigerator: $700
Washer: $800
Dishwasher: $400
Freezer: $600

Wow. I think the weirdest thing about Kansas is that the program started on December 15th and lasted until January 28th before the $2.7 million was depleted. Massachusetts so far is the quickest of the ten states/territories to deplete their money and we did it at a record rate. The money went at $50,000 per minute and roughly $833 per second. Texas was also completed on the same day but they weren't as quick as Massachusetts.

So, all in all, it was great for all the appliance dealers, AND was even bigger for those customers who ACTUALLY got through and got a reservation. Now we all know that the computers crashed, that the phone lines only took 133 out of 900,000+ phone calls, etc. etc. etc...BUT. The state DID step up and gave all those $6.2 million to those who reserved it, and also the additional $2 million in "waiting" will also get their check from the state later this spring/early summer. But what about all who wasn't able to participate?

According to mass.gov, "In addition, the Patrick-Murray Administration will offer a new round of energy efficient appliance rebates this summer. These rebates will be awarded through a lottery or other random selection method, rather than on first come-first served basis. Details will be announced here in coming weeks."

Here's to hoping round 2 is a little better!

-Brian
