The Governor of Massachusetts (Deval Patrick) has signed the law on July 30th, lifting the 5% sales tax for August 16th and 17th. On that Saturday and Sunday everybody is going to go out and shop for whatever they can get their hands on for under $2,500 (per item not transaction). The normal stuff (food, clothing, etc.) that's already tax free will still be tax free but items like boats, cars, tobacco products, and anything above $2,500 will not see the tax free holiday. Unfortunately, gas will not see the tax relief either which is something we're all in need for. But goods like tv's, washers, dryers, refrigerators, audio systems, speakers, and stoves are on the docket to lose the tax for these 2 days.
