Sunday before Dec 25th

Sunday and its snowing
Well, we live in New England and it tends to snow and snow hard. Its Sunday. Percy's is open, and we are ready. The sales and service team is here and the parking lot is clean and salted.

Price Shopping ??
In my last blog I wrote about how important I thought an in-store Appliance Service department is when buying an appliance. We touched on how important price is. I agree that price is very important. However, I believe that service, (i.e customer service) before, during, and after the sale is more important.
Let me explain;
I do not want to over pay for anything. I am a shopper too. But I want to get a fair price, not necessarily the lowest. I want great customer service. I want the phone to be picked up when I call a store. I want the store I buy from to have my information ready or quickly available when I speak to them. I want help when I want it. I want answers when I call from an intelligent human being who does not put me on hold or pass me around a company until I get so frustrated I hang up. I want to call during business hours and get a human being. I want to call after business hours, leave a message and have someone call me back the next business day. I want communication. I know being in business, there is a price to pay for what I want.
Many times in the past I have gone with the lowest price, and with that I always get the lowest service. It never fails. The formula for my life is Low Price = Low service or No service.
Time is limited. Business commitments, family commitments, we all have them. Thus ,I do not have time to shop more than 1 store when looking. Even when I look on the Internet for something, I tend to go to 1 place. I just want want a fair price as I know the store or company must make money to service me, or there will be no company to service me.
So yes, Price is very important, but I hope everyone does not make it the most important factor when purchasing.
At Percy's we make sure our prices are low, and fair. We constantly check our competition to make sure we are competitively priced. We don't lie and say we have the lowest prices on every single sku and model in our store. We do have a price guarantee for 30 days. So if you buy from us and for some reason we are not the absolute lowest price for that piece or those pieces, we will apologize and we will refund you the difference. We also answer the phone and we pick up our messages. As long as I am here, we will have intelligent and caring people answer the phone. This is the season for Appliance service. Holiday time usually is quite busy and our techs and team in our Appliance service department are no exception. Appliances always seem to act strange or a bit funny around the holiday time. If you feel your Appliances are not working properly or seem a bit slow or are in need of a "tune up" please call us or email us.
We will do our very best to accommodate your schedules and times.
I do get emails from time to time asking me if you need to have purchased your product here at Percy's to be service by our appliance service technicians. My answer is no, but we do give special priority to those that have purchased their appliances here. This means we service our own customers first. Its appropriate and fair to those that bought here. However, we do and we will make every attempt to service those appliances bought at other retail outlets quickly and efficiently.
My last thought on this subject is this:
Before you purchase your next appliance, see if the store you bought it at has their own service department. See how many techs they have, (Percy's has 5 full time) what kind of training they go through etc. Did they pass the training???
An in-store appliance service department should be a major part of your decision on where to purchase your next appliance. I know price is huge . Huge Thank you
A huge Thank you to all the great women who came to Percy's last night for our Holiday Silk n Spa evening. It was a tremendous success with over 110 ladies in attendance. The vendors were excited, and I hope everyone bought lots of shoes, handbags, clothing, jewelry, and other great holiday gifts. I also hope everyone enjoyed the massages and nail care rooms. I want to thank Zipango sushi on shrewsbury street in Worcester for the outstanding sushi, lamb, and swordfish, 86 winter street restaurant and On the rise bakery in Worcester for their great treats. The evening was just terrific.

On behalf of all the employees of Percy's I want to thank all of you that continue to call and email us regarding our web site and all it entails. The feedback is great!!! Thank you for the good wishes and the comments on how we can improve. As I said in earlier posts. we really want to earn and keep your business and your suggestions and comments on what you like and don't like are very important to us.
Many of the emails we have been getting revolves around our luxury appliances, (i.e Sub Zero, Wolf, Viking, Miele, Icon etc). We are adding more products to the site daily. If you do not see something you want a quote on, please call or email. We should have much , much more very shortly. Please do not leave the site because you did not find that hood, or back splash, or color etc. If we sell the brand, we sell the piece.
Rebates: Thank you for your emails on this subject. If you find a rebate on another stores website, chances are we also have that rebate. Please do not assume we do not have it because it doesn't pop up. We are working on this as well. We have tons of rebates on the site, and we may have missed one by mistake. But if you buy a product on our site, and you qualify for any manufacturers rebate, we will make sure you get it.

Percy's is very appreciative of all the business that we receive on a daily basis. We can not thank our customers enough for the opportunities you give us to serve you. Lately we have been selling alot of holiday gifts such as Blu-ray Dvd Players, GPS systems, Digital Picture Frames and Tv's. I should add Energy Star washers to that as well. The reason i am mentioning this is that when we all buy gifts like these, we all should try to remember to buy a few of the basic accessories like an HDMI cable for dvd players, or a surge protector for any electronics, or stainless steel hoses for your washer. All these types of accessories and there are lots more can add value to the gift but most importantly these items can add performance to the gift. Shopping Local First
The weekend and Cyber Monday are now over. I want to thank all of you that purchased here in our store and on our E-commerce web site. We truly appreciate your business. Thank you all for the great emails as well. The compliments on the web site and the "constructive criticism" as one long time customer sent are all well appreciated. We will all keep working hard to make our web site safe, secure and easy to use. We will continue to do what you like, and fix the things that need improving. This group is not knocking the big chains and telling people not to go there. Many of us shop at them for different products and there are great people working there from our local market. Today is Cyber Monday. Retail experts say this is a huge day for online sales. Percy's has just put up a list of some great gift items at rock bottom low prices. We have checked the local stores web sites and made sure our prices are where they should be. Great Holiday Gift Ideas
Its Saturday and we are now in the middle of one of the most exciting weekends of the year. Thanksgiving weekend is just terrific. Turkey sandwiches, great college football games and SHOPPING!!!!!
I have been receiving quite a few emails lately asking me what is "hot" gift. What are people buying at Percy's this holiday. So I made a list of the items that I see people buying especially yesterday (black friday) and the weeks leading up to Thanksgiving weekend.
1. Percy's Gift cards. If your not sure, this is the safest way to go.
2. GPS systems. Garmin and TomTom. We have both, they are flying out of here.
3. Digital Picture frames. My personal favorite. Its a great gift for anyone in your family.
4. Lcd tv's for the kitchen and office. Any size from 15 inch to 26 inch will work out fine.
5. Plasmas and Big Lcd tv's. It a big Tv holiday. The pricing deals are superb, the quality is
excellent....and we install it professionally
6. Energy star washers. We are selling these like crazy (thank you to all that bought them)
I know you may be thinking why a washer for the holidays. I did too. But, its a hot item for
the holidays....especially Energy star ones.
7. Any Audio system by Bose. The 3-2-1 systems are simple to use, simple to hook up, and the
sound will blow you away. A personal favorite!!!
8. Wine refrigerators. A great gift to put all those liquid presents we all get during the
holidays.
9. Vacuums. I am not sure I could get my wife a vacuum for the holidays but we are selling a
bunch every day to many of our customers.
10. Finally, the last hot gift item, or items is our small appliances. ( toasters, blenders, mixers).

Holiday Shopping (Black Friday)
This Friday, the day after Thanksgiving, is known as Black Friday in the retail world. Retail experts around the country and world say this is the day that retailers go from being in the red,(losing money) to black (making money). I am not sure about that but what i am sure about is that this day to many shoppers is a huge day. Its fun, its exciting, and many "professional " shoppers I know look forward to this day more than any other. Why?? Because on "Black Friday", for 4-6 hours in the early morning, retailers of all shapes, sizes and products advertise deals on specific products like clothing, toys, electronics, appliances, shoes, handbags, coats, toasters, and plants...yes plants, below cost or pretty close to it. I am not kidding. If you are looking for a plasma, a LCD TV, xbox games etc for the holidays and you can get up early enough, you may be able to score a fantastic deal. Speaking from experience and being a retailer on this "holiday", those that shop early and have their day planned out, win BIG!!!!!!

First full day with our new Website
Welcome to Percy's TV & Appliance e-commerce website. As stated earlier in my last post, this is all very new and exciting for us. Percy's traditional brick and mortor store has been in business for over 80 years and now we have added an e-commerce element for everyone's convenience, and for those that are unable to visit our store here in Worcester.
